Like many JPJKD Instructors, Octavio has been studying martial arts since the age of 13. An accomplished martial artist, he was always looking for an art that would fullfill his needs for realistic self defense, along with a philosophical base for endless growth.

After meeting Sifu Jerry Poteet, Octavio knew that he at last found what he was looking for. Rather than memorizing 100s of techniques and training to prepare for dozens of "what if" scenarios, he discovered the freedom of JKD to simply respond "like an echo", letting the awareness training take over in an effortless and liberating way.

Octavio ("Tav") is a dedicated and friendly teacher, always encouraging his students to do their best. He leads by example and inspiration, and emphasizes the philosophical as well as physical elements of Bruce Lee's art. Like his mentor, Jerry Poteet, he realizes that martial arts training is a combination of body, mind and spirit. With all three working together, everything is possible! And like his teacher, he gives each student personal attention because he genuinely cares about each and every individual.

A Full Instructor in JPJKD, Tav teaches Jeet Kune Do and Jerry Poteet's STAR WEAPONS SYSTEMS to adults and children in Marysville California. In addition, he conducts seminars for the JPJKD Association worldwide. He also appears with his Instructors new book, "Jerry Poteet's Jeet Kune Do Secrets", and has recently released an Instructional DVD for the next generation.
